Jorge Vela, the president of Elite Homes, was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. In December of 1991 he graduated from the Institute of Technology in Mexico (ITESM) as an industrial systems engineer.
In 1991 he founded ‘Espacios Habitacionales de Mexico SA de CV’. A company dedicated to residential and commercial construction in Monterrey. In 1993, he opened Ciao Cocinas, which is a showroom that mainly imports Italian cabinets exclusively from Scavolini.
He decided to bring Scavolini to Texas in 1999, when he opened Euro Design Kitchen and Bath. A showroom dedicated to selling Italian cabinets, appliances, countertops and bath fixtures. In order to expand the variety of product brands, Cabinets Direct Design Center opened in 2005, which sold mainly to domestic lines.
A pioneer in contemporary designs, Jorge Vela continued to pursue his passion for construction when he started building homes in 2003 and established Elite Homes. A company dedicated to building high quality homes and never ceasing to satisfy its customer’s needs.
THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Gregg Paul Guzman is a project manager at Elite Homes. He has worked for Toll Brothers as an engineering and decorating assistant and as a construction project manager, building multi-billion dollar national luxury homes. He also worked at the Taslimi Construction as a superintendent, building bungalows at the Beverly Hills Hotel and began construction of a 98% compliant LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) home. In addition, he worked for Equity Developers as an executive project manager, building 10,000 square-foot custom homes, and $15 million mansions in the upscale communities of Brentwood and Beverly Hills in California. He was nominated in 2006 for the Southern California MAME Award for excellent job performance and superior product merchandising talents, as well as a President’s Award for closing the most houses companywide for Toll Brothers. Mr. Guzman has had a successful career in the construction business since 1996. His philosophy is to construct with integrity and to do it within a scheduled time. He treats his subs with respect and inspires them to set higher standards and to reach their potential. His drive to deliver an excellent product is clear to everybody and admired.
THE OFFICE MANAGER
Sophie Desborough, experienced administrative professional with experience in business management. Well-regarded for organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Highly motivated, knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual with over 15 years experience in Administration and Management. Capabilities include customer service and relations, computer operations, accounts payable/receivable, general accounting, problem solving, human resources management, and vendor management.
Serves in several community outreaches and at local church. Enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.”
THE SALES & MARKETING MANAGER
Claudia Vela studied Communication & Marketing in Mexico at the University Anahuac del Sur. She was in charge of the international branding for Hewlett Packard before moving to San Antonio in 2002. In 2004, she opened a restaurant called Adobo.
Later, she became the director of the Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos. She has been a marketing consultant for more than 10 years for companies such and Tous, Bioclean, Marioli, Veronyka’s Salon and Juan’s Kitchen just to name a few.
Her goal is to always have a satisfied customer and to efficiently advertise Elite Homes.
